LAKE FRONT CALENDAR of EVENTS...

Calendar of Events

By Catharine Hadley, Arts and Entertainment Editor, catharinehadley@gmail.com

The theme of this column is "trying new things." I'm happy to be starting this new project of writing the entertainment column for Leisure Living Magazine! I've done all I could to make the entertainment listing complete and varied, so there should be something for everyone. Although I've done my best to make sure all the information is accurate, please go online or call ahead to confirm your plans.

Any suggestions and details of your upcoming events can be sent to me at catharinehadley@gmail.com.

Our part of Ohio is home to the biggest gathering of witches each October.

The 15th Annual Sandusky Witches' Walk is Saturday, Oct. 17. The nonprofit organization raises funds to support local youth and seniors while having a great time. Thousands of witches come in costume, participate in a choreographed dance, and celebrate in downtown Sandusky.

Last year, the event set two Guinness World Records - one for the largest witch costume contest and one for the largest witches' dance.

The festivities begin in the afternoon and last throughout the evening. If you can't wait, check out the "Broom & Sip" at The Emporium at West Market Street on Sept. 25. You can start getting ready by creating your own broom for the Witches' Dance.

HalloWeekends at Cedar Point is from Sept. 1 through Nov. 1, Thursday evenings through Sundays. Daytime is a good time to take children, when the sights and sounds are spooky but not scary.

Nighttimes are another matter! Be prepared to get scared.

To submit an event, email it to catharinehadley@gmail.com by October 29.
